A research team from the University of Macau (UM) State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, led by Zheng Ying, an associate professor from UM’s Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, recently published a paper in the top international pharmacology journal Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews.

Co-authored by scholars from UM, Peking University, and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, the paper discusses the Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) technology and how it can help researchers understand nanoparticle drug delivery inside cells and organisms. This technology can improve the delivery system and drug efficacy while minimising side effects. The paper also examines the different types of nanocarriers and how they affect therapeutic efficacy.

Founded in 1987 by Elsevier, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews is an English magazine  published in the Netherlands. It is a top journal of pharmacology, with an impact factor of 15.52 in 2019. Prof Zheng Ying is a corresponding author of a paper, and UM PhD student Tao Jinsong is one of the first-authors.
