Under the support of University of Macau (UM), in March of this year, the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) signed an agreement on the “Student Research Program” with Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (LNUTCM). In order to implement the related initiatives and strengthen the collaborative ties between ICMS and LNUTCM, Prof. Xu Dai, Vice President of LNUTCM led a delegation with seven colleagues to visit the Zhuhai-Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone on the morning of May 10th. The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Xin Chen, the Dean of ICMS, at the Zhuhai UM Science and Technology Research Institute.

 

Initiating the meeting, Director Chen extended a warm welcome to Vice President Dai and his colleagues, and introduced the development highlights of UM, ICMS, and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, in areas such as Chinese Medicine research, examination, supervision and regulation, highlighting the growing international academic team at ICMS. Currently, ICMS has established a flourishing trajectory with a harmonious synergy among scholarship, industry, and research.

 

After listening to Director Chen’s introduction, Vice President Dai expressed profound appreciation for the achievements of UM and ICMS, particularly thanking ICMS for assisting their postgraduates to study in UM. He expressed the desire to not only solidify the research student exchange programs during this visit, but also to enhance the exchange and collaboration between scientific researchers from both sides for mutually beneficial cooperation. Subsequently, Prof. Deqiang Dou, Dean of the School of Pharmacy at LNUTCM presented recent research accomplishments focusing on “Marine Chinese Medicine” and expressed interest in exploring collaboration opportunities in new drug development. Both parties had in-depth discussions and exchanges on mutually intriguing topics. At the end of the meeting, there was the exchange of mementos between Director Chen and Vice President Dai.

 

In attendance at this meeting from LNUTCM were Jingfeng Liu, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department; Qian Cai, Deputy Dean of the School of Pharmacy; Tie Qiao, Executive Vice President from LNUTCM Academy of Sciences; Liang Xu, Vice Dean of the School of Pharmacy; Xiaoxia Chen, Associate Professor of the School of Pharmacy. Assistant Directors Xiuping Chen and Jinjian Lu from ICMS, and Assistant Professor Yonghua Zhao accompanied Director Chen during the reception.
