Prof. Werner Nau, Interim Provost, Vice-President, and Head of Academic Operations, and Dr. Maja Feldt, Managing Director for University Programs and Processes, visited University of Macau (UM) Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) on 9 November 2023. They were warmly received by ICMS Director Prof. Xin Chen and principal investigators including Prof. Rui-Bing Wang, Prof. Chung-Hang Leung, and Assistant Professor Carolina Oi Lam Ung.
Prof. Chen presented to the guests about the progress and accomplishments of ICMS and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (SKLQRCM). The delegation also visited the laboratories and core facilities in ICMS. The delegation appreciated the ICMS’s modern and scientific research approach towards R&D of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM ) especially in areas of pharmaceutical sciences such as supramolecular medicine and biomaterials as well as cell-based drug delivery.
The international research group led by Prof. Werner Nau focuses on scientific concerns at the interphase between physical-organic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry, as well as the management of supramolecular assemblies for several applications in sensing, catalysis, pharmaceutical industry, and biological systems.
Both parties exchanged experiences and ideas in research, teaching and learning to discuss potential areas of cooperation and partnership. The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to strengthen their ties and explore avenues for future collaborations.
